PTSD is a common anxiety disorder that develops after exposure to a terrifying event or ordeal in which grave physical harm occurred or was threatened.

PTSD refers to the big events – Military Combat, Violent personal attack, Kidnapping, Hostage taking, Terrorist attack, Incarceration as a POW, Torture, Natural or man-made disasters, Severe motor vehicle accidents, Childhood sexual trauma. (Representative of the list in DSM4, the psychiatry manual of mental disorders, under PTSD)

The majority of people exposed to trauma do not develop PTSD, only 1 in 4 does. However, many people not involved in one of the “listed” PTSD sources, display symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder. That is where “small t” comes in.


Small t

Small t is a term coined by practitioners in the “trauma” field that refers to any event that causes a person stress and for which they have no resolution. While these small ‘ts’ may not be listed as PTSD events they can be none the less debilitating for the person.

Any event in a person’s life, whether they have been caught up in war or natural disaster, or whether they have been bullied, put down, become locked into grief, overwhelmed, or sustained an injury; anything that stimulates the subcortical brain into a reaction of fight/flight or of feigned death collapse, is going to be a trauma to that person. It is a challenge that they have felt helpless in the face of and have been unable to meet.

Any event that they have not been able to resolve will render that person unable to express their true self free of symptoms and inappropriate adaptions.

To reveal the pattern of PTSD and small t in RESOLVE we use the terms Trauma, Shock, Threat, Dread and Fear (TSTDF). There is a crossover in these terms and there are many other terms that could be used, but these are the ones that have consistently tested as effectively revealing the person’s Unresolved Patterns.

Event – Life threat while powerless – Fight and Flight Characteristics of TSTDF (Trauma, Shock, Threat, Dread and Fear)

Trauma – Great Distress and Disruption

1. A serious injury or shock to the body, as from violence or an accident.

2. An emotional wound or shock that creates substantial, lasting damage to the psychological development of a person, often leading to neurosis.

3. An event or situation that causes great distress and disruption.


Medically, "trauma" refers to a serious or critical bodily injury, wound, or shock. In psychiatry, "trauma" has assumed the meaning and refers to an experience that is emotionally painful, distressful, or shocking, which leads to lasting psychological or emotional impairment. A psychologically upsetting experience that produces a mental disorder, or otherwise has lasting negative effects on a person's thoughts, feelings, or behaviour.


Shock – Sudden, unexpected, unforeseen

1. Something that jars the mind or emotions as if with a violent unexpected blow.

2. The disturbance of function, equilibrium, or mental faculties caused by such a blow; violent agitation.

3. A severe offense to one's sense of propriety or decency; an outrage.


Physiological shock refers to the organs and tissues of the body not receiving a sufficient flow of blood. As a result of the imbalance of oxygen supply and demand, a buildup of waste products occurs and can cause damage to the organs. This shock can result in collapse, coma or even death if it is not treated immediately.


Psychological shock is a sudden disturbance of mental equilibrium. May occur when a person hears disturbing news about a loved one or have endured a traumatic experience. Can occur after a physically or emotionally harrowing incident and the state of mind is affected.


Threat – Menace, intimidation

1. An expression of an intention to inflict pain, injury, evil, or punishment.

2. An indication of impending danger or harm, generally involves a perception of injury, physical or mental damage, act or instance of injury, or a material and detriment or loss.

3. One that is regarded as a possible danger; a menace.

Something that may have not actually happened, but they feel it could at any time, or it could have happened and be continuing/reoccurring. It can be a real threat or a perceived (imagined) threat, or they could be responding to an inherited threat.


Dread – Anticipation with great apprehension or fear

1. To be in terror of, or profound fear of.

2. To anticipate with alarm, distaste, or reluctance.


Fear – Expectation of danger

1. To be afraid or frightened of.

2. A feeling of agitation and anxiety caused by the presence or imminence of danger.

3. To be uneasy or apprehensive about

4. A feeling of disquiet or apprehension

5. A reason for dread or apprehension


Other words that define fear:

Fright is sudden, usually momentary, great fear. In my fright, I forgot to lock the door.

Dread is strong fear, especially of what one is powerless to avoid. His dread of strangers kept him from socializing.

Terror is intense, overpowering fear. “And now at the dead hour of the night, amid the dreadful silence of that old house, so strange a noise as this excited me to uncontrollable terror" (Edgar Allan Poe).

Horror is a combination of fear and aversion or repugnance. Murder arouses widespread horror.


Panic is sudden frantic fear, often groundless.

The fire caused a panic among the horses.

Alarm is fright aroused by the first realization of danger: I watched with alarm as the sky darkened.

Dismay robs one of courage or the power to act effectively: The rumour of war caused universal dismay.

Consternation is often paralysing, characterized by confusion and helplessness:

Consternation gripped the city as the invaders approached.

Trepidation is dread characteristically marked by trembling or hesitancy: "They were … full of trepidation about things that were never likely to happen" (John Morley).

Phobia is a persistent, abnormal, and irrational fear of a specific thing or situation that compels a person to avoid it, despite the awareness and reassurance that it is not dangerous.


Practical Example from my Easternview Clinic:


Although based on a real life situation, any examples used here are intended as an illustration of TSTDF and any similarity in the reader’s situation is purely accidental. The explanation of the example given here is for educational purposes and is not to be taken as medical advice for any person.

“Y” is about 40 years old, single, and works fulltime.

‘What is your immediate thought if I say “Abuse”? If you have had any experience with sexual abuse, you may think that is what abuse means. If you have had experience with drugs, you may that is what abuse is. Both could be right for the client you are working with, or it could be something quite different.

If I said:

“Accident” what would your initial thoughts be? Perhaps a car accident or a fall, or something else, again depends on your personal experience."

(Be careful not to judge by your own experience, or your own “first thought”. First thoughts can be very good (intuition) but verification with NRT is essential. (See Accident case study below))

Case Study: Accident – (Unresolved Trauma – Shock – Threat – Dread – Fear). In this case the TSTDF was Accident

“Y” is 40 years old, single, and works fulltime.

She presented with the symptoms: fragile, emotional, I don’t want to be here anymore, sore gums teeth and nose, teary, weird dreams, pain in clavicles and right shoulder and arm. “I don’t know what is wrong. I am fed up with myself”’

“Y’s” pattern revealed as:

TSTDF: Accident (Unresolved Trauma – Shock – Threat – Dread – Fear).

Conflict: Not able to spit something out, expel something undesired.

I am a burden on my family.

Development conflict: Intense fear of eminent danger. Massive threat to life.

Development of emotional needs: (Stress on) Forgiven

Context: Inner Self in Time and Space.

“Y” told the story of her birth and her life. She was the second child born just 11 months after her sister. Her parents did not want another baby, and could not afford another baby. Life was not easy for them now with the two babies. She was, and has always felt she was a “burden on my family”.

As it turned out – She, “Y”, was the accident!

From her earliest memories she was blamed for the “woes” of the family. All through her life her family have expected her to be at their beck and call to fix whatever was wrong.

The relationships in the family that she grew up with have always made her “wrong” and she has had to be constantly on the alert, vigilant, for the next thing that she will be blamed for. .

Intense fear of eminent danger.

She never learned what it was like to know that you could be forgiven if what you did was not right (Development of emotional needs – normally learned between 9months and 3 years old).

Relationships have been very difficult for her and her self-esteem is very low. She doesn’t avoid people, but she does find them overwhelming.

With her mental state “infected” by this unforgiving family – mother in particular – and the lifelong sense of “injustice”, she long ago stopped putting her life energy into living from the heart – too much pain there. With all her intelligence and creativity going to survival, she has been unable to create her life from the heart.

Current symptoms:

Always being on alert, makes it difficult to know “what position to take”.

Aside: For effective treatment I, as the practitioner here, need to be alert to the 4 parts of “Our Human Existence” that can together affect our subconscious, our consciousness and our ability to “Move On” after I have applied my Resolve Beyond Neurology discoveries to my client. This Case Study is outlined here. So the four areas I address here are: Physically: Mentally: Emotionally: and Energetically.


Neck muscles, confused about what position to take have confused proprioception, with confused signals to the brain about where (whether) the head is on the shoulders – a threatening situation! Hence the pain in clavicle and right shoulder.


What direction do I take? Lead in with my right shoulder? Face in? Constantly having to face the injustice…. Can’t fight back….


People are overwhelming, and therefore: “Y” is constantly emotionally fragile.


All her energy goes into surviving against the injustice, so she was feeling weak and tired all the time.

The good news is that after a few sessions “Y” is getting her life back on track and she has never felt better.

When physically aligned in space (oriented, grounded, centred) the weight of the body is supported by the skeleton. When not aligned, the weight bearing of the body will be supported by the muscles.  In this situation the muscles will have to work like ligaments which can cause problems with structure, and a “flow on” of potential problems with many systems of the body as the muscles fail to appropriately support the organs.

The psoas muscles and this core symmetrical diagonal axis are the keystone of a well organised, balanced physical body supporting well-functioning viscera.

A dynamic supple core can produce strong dynamic movement.

The major areas of the core symmetrical diagonal axis are the relationships between: 
•    Occiput/Atlas junction to Insertion of Trapezius 
•    Insertion of Trapezius to T12 / Diaphragm / Psoas Origin
•    T12 / Diaphragm / Psoas origin to Psoas insertion

If any of these are in conflict the skeleton is not being used for weight bearing. The posture will not be supporting the transfer of weight appropriately, and the centre of gravity will be too low.

Insertion of Psoas

The psoas is part of the primitive brain (reptilian or brain stem), expressive of the central nervous system and the enteric (gut feeling) brain.

The psoas is on the kidney meridian, and is reactive to the fear and anxiety emotional states, so resolving conflict associated with Psoas can eliminate chronic fear.

Structurally, the psoas tightens to provide skeletal support when there is dysfunction in the skeletal and proprioceptive (nervous) system. When the sacroiliac joints of the pelvis are compromised for example, the psoas steps in, to help protect and support.

Anatomically the psoas supports kidneys and adrenals.  The psoas plays a key role in the flight, fight and freeze response.  Psoas is part of the ANS, and therefore part of our survival responses.  The psoas is always (whether we are awake or asleep) sending messages to the brain.  We can mask, misinterpret, and/or ignore these messages or develop our awareness; our sensing of the psoas (and other muscles) and respond appropriately. This involves a conscious choice to becoming somatically aware.

The psoas has been called the muscle of the soul; your deepest proprioceptive connection to earth and living with integrity.  Learn the language and listen to its message!

Sexual energy

As long as you are alive there is life energy, and life energy is sexual in nature.  The psoas muscle in particular is intimately connected to our sexuality, integrity, sense of safety and the expression of our true self. Working with the core muscles and energetic midline are empowering ways to find coherency and safety within.

Psoas influence on menstrual cycles

The iliacus muscle fans open and lines the inside of the pelvic bowl, provides structural support for correct placement of the reproductive organs, good blood circulation and neurology.  The nerves of the reproductive organs are embedded in the iliopsoas.

Both the iliopsoas and psoas, together with a nourishing nervous system play an important role in facilitating a healthy menstrual cycle. A dry, tight Psoas can cause cramping and pain.

Physical checks
•    Enhance proprioception and realign joints to free the psoas muscle for dynamic core movement.
•    The belly core is the first connection before any other physical movement.
•    Sitting with body slightly in front of the sitting bones.
•    Bruising of the muscle, abdominal hernias, and breakage of arteries. Some invasive manipulation of the psoas can cause these symptoms. Even at its most superficial level at the hip socket, the psoas is still located below abdominal muscle, large intestine, and a major artery. It it not necessary to work directly (physically) with the psoas for it to release.  It is better to work with the bio-intelligence of the psoas as a messenger of the central nervous system, rather than working ON the psoas

Note: The psoas issue is a symptom of a Conflict/TSTDF. Psoas release is not necessarily resolution of the conflict.

1.    Position in a foetal curl, soften the jaw and deeply relax the belly while gently rocking on one’s side.  This allows the head and pelvis to reconnect through the spinal cord’s movement.

2.    Floating in water on your side in the foetal curl psoas release position.  (Use a noodle floating device).  On a very deep level the foetal position helps to resolve the sympathetic survival response. It is therefore useful for trauma protocol. Foetal is a very powerful position that we instinctively return to when we need to regain integrity within our core. People eventually uncurl to open fully to the medium of water. This natural opening cannot be forced but is a result of a spontaneous resolution.

Sitting and psoas

How one sits will either support the healthy psoas or engage the psoas for support creating pain in the hip, groin and low back.

Bucket chairs cause the spine to collapse and fall behind weight bearing balance, involving the psoas to compensate for the lack of skeletal support.   A flat, firmly cushioned seat will encourage both skeletal support, muscular integrity, and open hip sockets. The hips should be slightly higher than the knees, particularly when sitting a long time.  It is also important to move about and walk regularly.

Another possibility is to open to the expressive possibilities of the iliopsoas outside our culturally accepted functioning (e.g. when driving cars, sitting at desks, etc).

Psoas and exercise

Check if the person needs to stay away from biking riding and other “muscle dominate” exercises/fitness, until the psoas is completely healed. It doesn’t have to take long, but it does take a whole new approach to movement. It is not a weak psoas but an exhausted psoas that may be causing pain.

Kinesiology 14 Muscle Balance

Kinesiology encompasses holistic health disciplines which use the gentle art of muscle monitoring to access information about a person’s wellbeing. Originating in the 1970’s, it combines Western techniques and Eastern wisdom to promote physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health. Kinesiology identifies the elements which inhibit the body’s natural internal energies and accessing the life enhancing potential within the individual." The maturity of ‘Complementary Therapies’ is shown by some of Australia’s major health funds now paying rebates for many therapies, including Kinesiology. This acknowledges what is happening in the health sciences in the 21st Century.

Australians spend over $1 billion annually on therapies not part of mainstream medicine. Kinesiology is one of the fastest growing of these and is now practiced in over 100 countries. In Australia, we have a growing number of professional practitioners registered with the Australian Kinesiology Association (AKA), along with some world renowned Kinesiology researchers and teachers.

Kinesiology is a non-invasive energetic healing science. Typically, the human body should be able to handle all 'stressors' that it encounters but most of us know that this is not always the case.

Changes in our health; including physical structure and the disruption of the structure functions due to injury and illness can affect our walking, our walking gates, sports injuries all add to the limits of our exercise capacity, which in turn has a dramatic effect on our health and well being

Coupled with this is our negative emotions, our aches and pains, the arguments and clashes with other people that can provoke mental and emotional stress. It would be fantastic that all the emotional conflicts and physical injuries repaired themselves just the same as it does when you cut your finger – which will heal generally all by itself usually without intervention.

When the body is away from balance it is unable to manage external stressors effectively, it cannot heal itself correctly therefore a person's health is usually affected. Kinesiology and Neuro-Training is mostly about bringing the body back into equilibrium so that it can access the innate healing ability. Kinesiology can also be used as an emergency first-aid.

Specialized kinesiology as used in Kinesiology and Neuro-Training: aims to aid the body in healing on its own.

For example, after a stressful week have you noticed a pain in your neck muscles. In addition, a difficult breakup may be related to a song you listed to at the time of this stressful anxiety, you know, the one that seems to stay inside your head for ever (well perhaps not that long), the song that reminds you of the breakup experience.

We know that our minds carry our emotional stress, but our muscular does too. And the physical attributes like shoulder stiffness, tennis elbow and sore knees and hips we experience are often the emotional experience or a memory associated with the associated negative experience that instead of dissipating naturally and leaving no after effects can stay with us a long time unless the emotional experience is resolved.

In our Neuro-training classes the relationship between the amygdala or limbic system in the brain, and how this translates into our muscle and joint systems, shows how human emotions and memory are present around the body and are “stored” in different organs throughout our bodies.

A Neuro-training practitioner’s work then is all about achieving this “emotional dissipation” in muscles and joints thus giving our muscle and joint system time to get back to their normal function instead of continually compensating and compromising our structure.

Neuro-scientists have shown your body holds onto your past held in your muscles and joints.

According to the late Candace Pert, an expert in neuropharmacology, the "body is your subconscious mind. Our physical body can be changed by the emotions we experience.” Her research reveals the integrated physiology behind emotion-body connection:

    “A feeling sparked in our mind-or body-will translate as a peptide being released somewhere. [Organs, tissues, skin, muscle and endocrine glands] all have peptide receptors on them and can access and store emotional information. This means the emotional memory is stored in many places in the body, not just or even primarily, in the brain. You can access emotional memory anywhere in the peptide/receptor network, in any number of ways. I think unexpressed emotions are literally lodged in the body. The real true emotions that need to be expressed are in the body, trying to move up and be expressed and thereby integrated, made whole, and healed.”

In the event of this emotional stress the body is out of balance its unable to deal with external stressors effectively, if it cannot cure itself properly, a person's health and fitness may be affected.

We mask conclusions regarding every experience we go through; it’s what we have decided upon during the stressful event regarding ourselves and to try and preserve our self-image.

Some people may really feel this is not a problem or the above statements in this article or the research is not true, as if they never related to it.

This is a denial which again can set up a stress, but in their mind the situation is what it is and it a relationship which was going in a certain direction suddenly changed. The relationship situation may or not be resolved, so it’s now just like a dead end which may affect one or both people here. Some move on and don’t look back. But for others a breakup of this nature can have negative results for years afterward.   

There are lots of dead ends in people’s life. These are ongoing to people. Incomplete Business ventures and a whole range of secondary responses attached to this, such as justifications, and people will certainly play these types of out. Justification is a psychological process, but we make use of the emotions as the motivator to continue and try to resolve the resulting and oftern damaging mental processes.

Kinesiology gives us choices to move away from various ailments, suffering and pain that afflict us. It is neither a medical approach nor a therapy, but can become a “personal development” realization that things can be improved through the applied techniques Kinesiologists use on many patients.

Kinesiology is not a therapy that replaces a visit to the doctor. It is rather an educational model that helps people to modify their behaviour and to become more proactive in creating their own health and wellbeing. Its main goal is the prevention of illness and the restoration of vitality.

My Kinesiology work on people’s knees for example, shows the treatment used on these injuries can reduce pain in the knee area but can also have additional long term results on hips and feet as well.

The result is generally improved athletic performance and less body stresses elsewhere in one’s body usually in the feet of hips but certainly not only restricted to these joints.

As a result, the functionality of the knee improves. Athletic injuries usually a result of overuse of the joints and muscles, or tissue and muscle problem.

Kinesiology as recognized in both Australia, Europe and the UK is a science of human integration between emotions, physical and mental functions. These are the integral parts of human functions and causes life to happen.

Therefore, kinesiology needs to be included as part of our new Diploma course offerings. Students who graduate in this course end up as kinesiologists who can then treat a person’s biomechanics, anatomy, their rehabilitation progress, their mental attunement as-well-as the management of emotional disorders particularly emotional anxiety, physical movements and mental traumas.

Kinesiology might be a choice from where the sufferer is anxious to lose a a few pounds to losing the unborn baby prematurely.

Kinesiology training is the system our college uses for putting back the emphasis on the holistic study of people as it relates to their physical effort, mental health and disease prevention, bodily exercise and emotional congruence. In other words, finding the stressors that are in conflict and that impede our existence.

Kinesiology, in holistic fields, uses gentle muscle testing to tap into the body's knowledge and understanding of its own processes and ability to heal itself.

According to holistic kinesiologists body cells rely on an appropriate energy flow in their environment for their proper function, so imbalances in the energy systems of the body/mind, including the meridians (energy lines throughout the body), can lead to malfunction within the body from a cellular level upwards and correcting the energy flow can therefore restore cellular function as well as muscle function.

What does the term kinesiology mean?

The term kinesiology is derived from the Greek words for theory and movement and describes a large variety of energy balancing methods that combine occidental chiropractic techniques and traditional Chinese acupuncture. Its main purpose is to improve the communication between the body, the mind and the emotional centre and to re-mobilize energy where it is stuck.

The body's vital energy, also known as chi or prana, is easily thrown out of balance by the way we feel, think and function when we have to deal with shifting circumstances. Any change to our habits and expectations can trigger a stress reaction and create physical, emotional or mental turmoil. Shallow breathing, high blood pressure, poor digestion and concentration, memory loss as well as anxiety attacks and depression are just a few examples of the chaos stress can create.

Specialized kinesiology:

Aims to facilitate the body in healing itself. The body requires healthy skeletal muscles in order to keep you moving at your best. This is essential if you are an athlete or work in a profession that is labor intensive.

Apart from inflicting pain, a strained muscle or injured tendon in ones knee can impair one’s physical performance. This is the reason why people feel sluggish or weak after experiencing a physical injury.

For years, chiropractors, physiotherapists, and traditional healers have used all manner of remedies to sooth sore muscles. These include treatments such as pain relievers, tropical lotions, massage therapy, and even acupuncture.

But, thanks to research on kinesiology (the sciences behind muscular, skeleton movement, emotions and mental stressors), better treatment techniques have been invented to treat as well as protect muscles and joints. One of these innovative treatment modalities is kinesiology.

Kinesiology and life experienceKinesiology and Life's Experiences.

When we are born our learning experience continues. We learn from our parents, grandparents, school, friends, enemies and so on and we become the result of all our experiences.

We are taught many things by our families, our friends, our teachers, about how life should be for us and how we should behave, think and feel; these become our belief systems.

Our genetic make-up and our belief systems will determine how we handle life's experiences for the rest of our life.

Our brain learns and remembers our reactions to these experiences, and we often "replay" the reaction when we get into the same or a similar situation. We learn to run and hide during a thunderstorm, we learn to laugh at certain jokes that other people do not laugh at and so on.

If we use the same reaction often enough, it becomes easy to react without thinking in some situations. This pattern in our behaviour makes it increasingly difficult to think clearly about other alternatives and other choices we could make for ourselves. We react one way to events that frighten us and react another way to events that make us feel good.

Our sub-conscious brain, the part that remembers past events, may cause us to react in a particular way; emotionally, mentally and physically to certain situations.

For example: A knee or back injury may keep occurring. Why does it keep occurring? Various treatments work for a short time. Often these injuries get a label, which can often reinforce the "symptoms" and hence the "behaviour". We then "put up with it" because we believe (our belief systems) that this is how it will always be.

A relationship problem that appears to be unsolvable or never goes away.

We "don't have the energy" or can't "move on" from situations that distress us.

We can't think clearly or make decisions easily; This is often a "flight or fight" situation in which three quarters of our brain power is shut down to logic but it still has 100% ability to "flight or fight".

We aren't living to the best potential that we know we could or should be.

Investigating one’s neurology can be used as an aid to recuperation which can assist with the resolution of these situations outlined above and put you back on track to good health.

1. What goes wrong when we become ill?

Any illness, injury and/or emotional stress can cause these normal "programs" to run incorrectly. For example, instead of walking normally you may limp, trip, lose your balance or bump into objects unexpectedly. With Neurotraining and Kinesiology, muscles can be "tested" to see if they work correctly and if not to correct the underlying cause this fixing the problem and assist in correcting the bodies "program" and to restore the body normal function.

2. What is stress?

Stress and how we cope with it will cause changes in our lives. Many things have the potential to affect our health and well-being. How well we handle things like injuries, job changes, relationship changes, financial changes, recreational changes, spiritual changes, eating habit changes and environmental changes will affect the amount of stress in our lives. Many other things can affect our stress levels like accidents, poor nutrition, and pollution and so on. The list is long.

In Neurological and kinesiology terms, these "stressors" in our life can usually be overcome by testing specific muscles in specific contexts. This results in a marked improvement of our emotional wellbeing. People are amazed that even after one or two visits they feel so much better, more alive, abler to cope, and best of all the feeling lasts.

3. How you can benefit after treatment?

A Kinesiology session can repair the physical, chemical, emotional and spiritual aspects of the person being treated. It has been shown that a Neuro-Kinesiology session recharges the person’s energy systems and helps restore good health and vitality.

Our health problems are maintained until we learn how to resolve within our neurology, (within the brain), situations that orientate us from negativity but toward positive behaviour.

Positive emotional patterns of behaviour can be reward us by giving us positive experiences in life and in relationships; while negative emotional patterns like boredom anger and other negative behaviour influence our behaviours and can damage our relationships and damage our overall life experiences.

This workshop that opens the door to these realizations is accredited by the Australian Kinesiology Association and forms part of The Certificate of Solution Oriented Kinesiology. Additionally, while these courses are for Practitioner Qualification, learning Kinesiology and Neurology can be for personal interest as well.

Genetic Inheritance and Human Behaviour 

We all have an innate ability to heal ourselves if we can. When for some reason we can't heal, our mind/body will let us know that there is an unresolved problem that we need to pay conscious attention to.  It does this with symptoms.

Rather than just "shooting the messenger" by managing or suppressing the symptoms, Kinesiology seeks to find what it is that is maintaining the symptoms; what it is that the body/mind is unable to resolve and heal on its own. 

The essential skill of Kinesiology is the training system which teaches students how to do this work.  This technique relies on the neurology between your muscular system and how they are connected to your brain via your nervous system.  Anything that registers in your brain as a stress is reflected in your nervous system and in your muscles. 

Testing different muscles with specific references and challenges, is how a Kinesiologist allows your brain to reveal what stresses you.   This can be any kind of stress – anything to do with your health, work, finances, relationships, goals, specific events in your life…. anything at all. 

Kinesiology then seeks the best solution; the best technique/s for that particular problem; one that will enhance you own natural healing ability.

Emotional Influence and how our emotions influence our lives.

People stress over many things. These 'stressors' often show as negative emotions, mental anguishes, physical limitations, or low energy – like your ‘batteries’ need charging. 

Often it can be a combination of all of these body systems being in ‘stress’ that can cause this “not well” feeling. The feeling of "I am just not myself at the moment" which over time can seem to become more 'infused' into our being. Over time these 'stressors' become harder for the individual to resolve without specialist help. 

We, each of us have an innate ability to recuperate but sometimes there can be limitations to this recuperation. Suppression of the expression of who we are and how we feel, can exist in any part of the "what makes us function as human beings", the mind the body and the emotions.   

Kinesiology and beyond neurology can then assist with the recuperation process, helping people to resolve these 'stressors' that present 'challenges' to their well-being.

Being well and happy is an expression of who we are and how we feel. Life's problems can happen at any time and we call on our life's resources to help solve these problems. Thus our emotions, beliefs, fears, behaviour patterns, genetics, and our physical structure all play a part in handling these life issues. If any of these life support systems can't cope, then illness our symptoms of illness may develop. 

Finding the emotional, mental and physical imbalances you may be holding within is the challenge. As an NT Kinesiologist I am able to access specific references to these imbalances that are often held in the subconscious and can be accessed through a person’s neurology.  

Understanding this neurology can often indicate the cause of a problem and then the most appropriate solution can be found to bring the body/mind into balance, increasing the quality and expression of the person's own individual spirit.

RecuperationRecuperation is a natural part of our genetic make-up.

As a part of our unconscious response to the damage we do to ourselves on a daily basis, our ability to recuperate plays its role according to certain laws of nature.

Recuperation is a natural part of our genetic make-up. We cannot improve on it by thinking about it consciously; we actually have very little direct control over it. As a part of our unconscious response to the damage we do to ourselves on a daily basis, our ability to recuperate plays its role according to certain laws of nature.

Recuperation is an attempt by the body to help us become aware of the laws of nature and how to position ourselves to take full advantage of them. In our conscious attempt to do the best we can in life and to increase the quality of our life, having a clear understanding of the principles of recuperation may be a great asset.

There have been, and still are, many pioneers of the research into the effects of the principles of Recuperation. The effort put into the Art of Recuperation could never be covered fully by thousands of texts. From ancient times Aristotle, Paracelsus and other greats have influenced the development of recuperation through their powers of observation.

Taking a common sense look at the function of human behaviour reflects the nature of the laws that governs our recuperation. Some of the ‘greats’ that have influenced our contemporary approach to recuperation include Samuel Hahnemann, the father of Homeopathy, from his observation of the effects of the use of Homeopathic preparations has made a large contribution to this work with his identification of the Principles of Recuperation.

Bernard Jensen  is known for his fine work with clients and the massive education of people to the things necessary in achieving and maintaining recuperative ability. His teaching of Iridology has become the basis for an expansion of the Naturopathic industry and the development of many forms of Iridology. Kinesiology has led to many new applications of Kinesiology techniques.

The first of these new applications was Touch for Health by Dr. John Thie, followed by Bio-Kinesiology developed by John Barton, Educational Kinesiology by Dr. Paul Dennison, three in One Concepts by Gordon Stokes, Daniel Whiteside and Candace Callaway, and Applied Physiology by Richard Utt, All of the above in a relatively short period of time.

It was not until they had made an enormous paradigm shift in how he and other practitioners were later to approach the application of these laws particularly in Kinesiology, that he realized the potential of this model.

It showed that to be able to include all the needed references when working with a client but we had to know also what context/s we were working in.

The importance of context led to the realization that if the correct values were associated with clients, the Model of Universal Principles proved to be a symbolic model not only of the contexts involved in any human endeavor, but also it began to prove itself via other sources. This structure is the same as that which Buckminster Fuller describes and uses as the basis for his geodesic domes.

The work of Buckminster Fuller of course is all based on his triangulation mathematics which even today describes the structure of the atomic shells and even describes the mechanism of radioactivity, where other theories have yet to do the same.

A workshop is a great place to start for the first time learner of Kinesiology and this workshop provides a comprehensive understanding of the basics of this exciting healing science.    By discovering how Kinesiology works, how we heal and why we use muscle testing to monitor the neurological response gives students a great start in finding hidden emotional and physical problems.

More discoveries are made in this workshop about the nature of our defence systems and patterns and how we become “stuck” in these patterns and why we suppress things we cannot resolve.

From these neurological beginnings further discussions develop about what can be done about these conflicts, how their resolution relates to our defence patterns and why the inevitable resulting conflicts can be resolved.

In addition is the subject about how and why “CONTEXT” plays an important part in why conflicts occur and from there, how they can affect our health.

Let’s define some terms used here.

1 Defence: –

This is written up in many books but still the physiological effects on a person’s mental state coupled with the emotional impact of the overall experience of a traumatic event can be overwhelming. After the trauma, people then try avoid situations that can repeatedly “drop them in it” again. This is our defence mechanisms causing these actions (or reactions) with in us. We react rather than act.

Combine the energetic effects due to initial trauma, like tiredness, lethargy and so on and then illnesses can take hold. This causes the effected person to become more exposed to this secondary shock and trauma thus adding to, and becoming a secondary shock. These secondary shocks keep adding yet more trauma in a person’s life although are not generally well known or understood.

Our society often speaks of survival rather than about living, so we now learn through these traumatic events how much more energy we are putting into survival (read defending) rather than directly putting our energy into living!

2. Context vs Content: –

a. Context of an illness or injury: –

The symptom of our illness or injury is not “the problem”. The symptom is merely the body’s messenger reporting a problem within us. Eliminating the “messaging system” (say a pain relief tablet) at this first level of the so called “cause” is working at the acute level and is relieving the immediate symptom but maybe not the cause of the pain in the longer term.

So the pain relief tablet taken for persistent headache may relieve the pain in the short term taking away the acute level of pain, but as they say if pain persists see your medical specialist or natural therapist like a Kinesiology practitioner.

For long term healing we need to identify and work with context in which is why the problem is being maintained.

For example, a sports player may have a sore shoulder while playing tennis but not when they play golf. So the CONTEXT here which may be maintaining the “injury” would likely be something to do with tennis. Could be emotional, physical or mental, and so this “trauma” can now be worked on by a person qualified and experienced in Kinesiology.

b. The Content of an illness or injury: –

This becomes the path of discovery for the Kinesiologist to piece together the patterns, where the soreness is actually coming from, or the true cause of the pain. The practitioner tries to determine from the symptoms whether the cause is mental, physical, or emotional anguish, incongruent values or a combination of all of these things that is happening within the client or patient.

3. Values: –

Understanding that we are motivated by a personal values. We spending great deal of energy moving towards or away from set values.

When we are not or can’t be congruent with our personal values (read true to self), we are not living within the “Laws Of Healing” and the result is out of balance symptoms dis-ease and pain. Not nice – no fun, just surviving.
